ALG COLOR MANAGEMENT
The desired result of the ALG Color System is to produce the specified color on the first label, then produce the color consistently throughout the production run and all subsequent runs.
ALG Color Management is a system of documenting, testing and verifying color that focuses our team on producing
the accurate, consistent colors that meet our customers' requirements.
Color standard is the baseline for determining a color specified by the customer.
A color standard can start as a color chip provided by the customer, previously produced part supplied by the customer, custom color blend, PMS (Pantone Matching System) Book, etc.
Once a First Article is produced and approved by the customer, this becomes the ALG color standard for all repeat production runs.
The use of a light booth provides a neutral light environment to visually evaluate a color sample by removing all exterior reflection or light variables.
In doing so, it aids in the evaluation of color quality and uniformity when confirming color specifications during the production process.
Overall, it provides conditions to visually confirm color matching, enhance inspection procedures and overall perform an aesthetic appraisal to our Product Managers.
Color fans are used in production to verify color consistency throughout the run. At set intervals, a label is removed from the production stream and is placed in an overlapping fashion from the previous label pulled.
Operators can easily see and correct a potential color drift without having to leave the press. This color fan is then placed in the quality retains for reference.
FOUR COLOR PROCESS
4 Color Process printing is achieved by printing
a series of dots with the colors Cyan, Magenta,
Yellow and Black. These four colors can reproduce
thousands of colors and is most often used in printing
photographic images. The color density of the four colors
is a critical component in reproducing the exact colors the
ALG prints color bars on all 4 color process jobs that are read with a color densitometer to ensure the colors match the customer requirement and can be repeatable for all future orders.
SPECTROPHOTOMETER, DELTA E, Certificate of Compliance (CoA)
ALG uses spectrophotometers when a customer needs that degree of tolerance in meeting their color specifications. A reading is taken initially and throughout the production run to confirm that the color remains within the required tolerance.
Spectrophotometers measure reflected or transmitted light across the print color and creates a visual curve that compares the color printed to the color standard.
ALG has set a Delta E color tolerance, so when the visual curve measurement is taken, it provides a pass/fail result based on the preset tolerance.
ALG can provide a CoA (Certificate of Assurance) on color that is based on the Spectrophotometer readings. Click here to view a sample report.
